How Can I Earn Free PayPal Money?

There are a few ways that you can earn free PayPal money. These include using survey sites online, using the best cashback apps and plug-ins, shopping online, watching videos, and joining groups. All these ways are ways that you can use PayPal cash for free in exchange for a bit of effort.

Typically, you must sell something or provide a service in exchange for a PayPal balance. Some tactics will earn you money faster than others. For example, you may earn rebates to earn money much more quickly than making money via paid online surveys.

Additionally, you might be able to sell something online to earn cash faster than you could earn rebates. It all depends on how much time you have available and what you might be able to sell.

It is important to note that there are plenty of scams available online. If you get an email from an unknown source offering you free PayPal money, do not click on it.

Additionally, do not trade your social security number in exchange for promises of cash. There are plenty of legitimate ways to earn PayPal money, so keep an eye out for these scams.

How Can I Earn Free PayPal Money Instantly?

We’re glad you asked. There are plenty of ways for almost anyone to earn money via PayPal online. For that reason, we’ve listed ten websites below that you can use to earn points making PayPal money today.

1. Survey Websites

Several apps and websites allow you to take surveys on your smartphone or computer. In exchange for your time and opinions, these websites give you cash. Survey sites are easy to sign up for and payout often.

Swagbucks

Swagbucks is one of the most popular survey websites on the market. They give users $5 for merely signing up and have one of the highest reward-per-survey ratios. It only takes minutes to create a profile, and users must be over 18 to use it.

Once you’ve signed up, there is a short intake survey that helps Swagbucks to pair you with surveys that you are eligible for. Users must earn $25 to cash out on PayPal.

Survey Junkie

Survey Junkie has one of the best reputations among the many survey website options. This website sets itself apart by giving more specific surveys than other survey sites.

Users earn points for each survey taken and can exchange the points for PayPal cash. The minimum cash out amount is $10, and you can receive money in increments of $5.

PrizeRebel

What sets PrizeRebel apart is that it has reward levels. Essentially, the more surveys someone takes, the more they earn. PrizeRebel also uses a points system, and the minimum cash out is $5 when using PayPal.

A typical survey earns about $0.40, so it can take a while to earn cash.

2. Cashback Websites

Cashback apps and websites are fun ways to discover passive income ideas on purchases you already plan to make. These websites either refund you a percentage of your purchase or save you money upfront by applying coupons to your purchases.

Rakuten

This cashback website allows users to earn cash back on their purchases. Rakuten offers up to 12% cashback on some shopping, but the typical amount is closer to 2-3%.

Users receive $10 for merely signing up and continue to gain by shopping via the Rakuten e-commerce platform.

MyPoints

MyPoints is both an online survey website and a website that pays people for shopping online. Users earn an egift card, some cash, or PayPal rewards, and the minimum cash out for PayPal is $25.

Users need an email address to create a profile and can start earning right away. Additionally, users can cash out their points and receive their funds on PayPal the same day.

Ibotta

This app also offers a $10 sing up bonus. Ibotta is like the other cashback sites and includes grocery store brands, and has an affiliate program. When users recommend that friends and family start using Ibotta, they receive $5 in exchange for their friends signing up.

Users can either shop online or in-store. If users shop in-store, they must upload a photo of their receipt to receive cashback.

Additional Cashback Sites

Dosh

Dosh users earn $5 as a sign-up bonus. This app is a favorite among users because they do not have to put in extra work to get a payout from the app.

Users upload their credit card or debit card information to the Dosh app or website and earn money for making qualifying purchases. The minimum cash out is a $25 gift.

Receipt Hog

While this company does not always accept new users, it is simple to use. Receipt Hog asks users to scan receipts to earn rebates. The app is unique because when users scan receipts, they can be entered into monthly drawings to make even more rewards. Users can be paid online in PayPal or free Amazon gift cards.

Do you have a skill that other people might be able to use? What about additional items around the house that you’d like to sell? This might sound surprising, but you can get a PayPal gift card within your PayPal account within 24 hours. Here's how to do it.

Fiverr

Fiverr is a gig economy jobs website that pairs people who can provide a service online with someone who needs it. Tasks range from doing website coding to creating logos and more. The site is called Fiverr because the starting rate for any project is $5 and increases from there.

If you have a skill that you could sell online, you can create a Fiverr profile and start completing projects for others. There is no minimum cash out.

eBay

If you have items that you no longer use, you may want to try eBay. Once you sell an item and the recipient has it, eBay will pay you for the item.

While it may take a while to sell an item or be delivered to the customer, eBay is an easy to use website that connects you with buyers from around the world. You can choose to send money directly into a bank account or via your PayPal account.

Facebook Marketplace

Most people use Facebook Marketplace to sell items locally. While the exchange of money is left up to the people buying and selling items, you can insist on selling items to people who will send you PayPal money.

This is a secure way to receive money at your payment method and might be easier than exchanging cash in some situations.

ThredUP

If you have clothes in your closet that you haven’t worn in a while, you may want to make some extra money by selling them. The good news is you don’t have to put together the event of a sale to offload your unwanted items.

ThredUP will send you a bag to put any unwanted clothes in. You can then send your bag back to the company, and they will sell what they can and donate what they can’t. When your items are posted and sold, ThredUP will make your funds available.

You can either use the money for store credit or choose to get paid out on PayPal.

Decluttr

Decluttr specializes in the ‘clutter’ that people keep around their homes. If you have stacks of DVD’s or extra items like electronics around your home, Decluttr might be the perfect app for getting rid of some of these items.

To sell on Decluttr, all you need to do is scan the barcode of your items. The app will tell you how much Decluttr will pay for the item immediately. There is no back-and-forth with sellers or listing fees involved with this app.

Not only that, but Decluttr will send users a pre-paid box, and once you’ve sent in the items, the app pays you via PayPal.

BookScouter

Selling books usually means getting pennies back on the dollars you previously spent buying textbooks or other books. BookScouter checks the resale prices across 44 vendors to see which one will give its sellers the best price.

. There are no listing fees, and users get free shipping. You can use your smartphone to make money online from your textbooks, fiction books, and more, all from the comfort of your home.

Work from home jobs are out there, but you may find many of them involve using a phone. This may not work for you because of the “no background noise” rule online jobs you can do from home tend to come with.

Guaranteeing no background noise when you have kids or pets at home may be impossible. But, you have lots of options for working from home anyway!

Below is a list of almost every non-phone work from home job I've reviewed here, with two links for each listing. One link will take you to the review of that company, and the other will take you to the page you need to sign up.

And if you want to see more work at home companies hiring in addition to these, be sure to subscribe to our twice-weekly work at home update emails. There's a big list every week.

Good luck!

Work From Home Jobs – Non-Phone

Data Entry

Work from home transferring data from one source to another. Most of the companies listed below are entry-level. But, with few exceptions the pay may not be enough for a stable income.

Before you apply to any of the listings below, you might want to read the post I wrote about data entry jobs from home. It explains what your expectations should be with data entry.

If you are a fast and accurate typist who doesn't mind repetition, you might excel at data entry.

  • Amazon MTurk – Read Amazon Mechanical Turk Review – Open to US and many other countries. This is more short task work than an actual work from home job, and is just extra money. Once you are signed in, you can search for “data entry” to see the data entry short tasks that might be posted. Cash out when you want to your bank, or request an Amazon gift code.
  • Clickworker – Read Clickworker Review – Open worldwide. Very similar to MTurk (above). Has data entry short tasks available on occasion. They pay weekly or monthly. For most people, this is just extra cash.
  • Dion Data – Read Dion Data Review – US only. Pay is per piece. The rate is not listed.
  • The Smart Crowd – Read The Smart Crowd Review – Open worldwide. Pay is per task, with payments made once a month.
  • Sigtrack – US. Sometimes hiring independent contractors to help with voter registrations. As with most of these jobs, probably just extra cash. You will do better here if you have dual monitors to work from. Pay is weekly on Fridays via Paypal.
  • TTEC – US. This company is best known for phone work from home, but they sometimes have data entry jobs available. When open, it's typically part-time and entry-level, paying around $10 an hour.
  • Axion Data – US only. Hires data entry operators to work from home (rarely). You work as an independent contractor. You must have 2-3 years’ data entry experience with a keystroke rate of 15,000 keystrokes per hour error free. Note this company is legit, BUT they do charge a fee (between $5 and $10) to keep your name listed in their database for hiring. They say they do this to discourage people without data entry experience from applying. I don't at all agree with this practice.

I also recommend FlexJobs for finding more home data entry jobs. They guarantee 100 percent scam-free job leads. It's the only membership-based jobs site I use and trust.

Want up to 30 percent off your membership? Use promo code AFFILPROMO at check-out.

Transcription Work From Home Jobs

With transcription work from home jobs, you listen to audio and type what you hear. Good transcriptionists don't mind repetition, they excel at spelling and grammar, and they are detail-oriented.

If you're looking for entry-level transcription, you'll need to stick with general transcription. Most of the listings below are general transcription.

Transcriptionists often use special equipment to do the job. This includes foot pedals, headsets, and software. Not all companies require equipment, but some do. You will generally be told during the application process if you need the equipment.

Please keep in mind that these are all independent contractor positions, and you may find it difficult to make ends meet if you only do work for one company. This is because none of them guarantee work will be available, so you need to be sure you have other options available to you for finding work when it dries up.

The jobs below can be part-time or full-time just depending on how much work each company has to keep you busy. Most of them allow you to work whenever you want.

Most of these companies will require you to test (unpaid transcriptions) prior to accepting you to work for them.

Legal transcription requires at least 24 months of increasingly responsible legal work in a law firm, within five years of the date of application. Pay is 1/2 cent per word transcribed, plus bonus pay. Get paid twice monthly via check.
  • Tigerfish – Read Tigerfish Review – Open to US. Experience isn't needed. Pay is per line transcribed.

Afraid you'll dive into transcription, not knowing what you're doing? I recommend the Jump-Start Your General Transcription Career eBook. It's available on Amazon. This e-book provides a basic walkthrough of what general transcription involves. It's very helpful!

If you prefer courses to e-books, Janet Shaughnessy of Transcribe Anywhere has a good one. The intro course is 7 lessons and completely free. It helps you understand if transcription is right for you, earning potential, and how to start.

Is medical transcription what you're interested in? If so, I recommend CareerStep for training.

Editing & Proofreading Jobs You Can Do From Home

Editing and proofreading are flexible, non-phone jobs that are often home-based.

Editors work on the structure of documents. Proofreaders spot and correct errors in text.

Keep in mind most editing and proofreading companies prefer candidates with college degrees. Additionally, many companies won't hire you unless you have past experience.

  • Cactus – Read Cactus Review – They offer highly specialized freelance editing work regularly.
  • Enago – They are usually hiring remote editors. However, this is not entry-level. You will need experience and college education to qualify.
  • Gramlee – Has occasional openings for remote proofreaders/editors.
  • Kibin – They do not always have openings for work at home proofreaders, but you can fill out their form to get notified when they do.
  • Scribendi – Read Scribendi Review – Open to US and other countries. Rate of pay not listed, but will depend on word count and turnaround time. Pay is via Paypal.
  • Scribbr – Read Scribbr Review – Worldwide. Must be a native English speaker with a Bachelor's degree or higher. Experience editing academic texts is also required (it sounds like editing your own assignments in college would probably suffice). Pay is a flat per word rate, but rates vary based on assignment. According to their website, many earn $23 – $25 per hour.

Another idea is to work for yourself as a proofreader. You could earn more money by setting your own rates and seeking out those high-paying clients.

If a home-based proofreading business is of interest to you, this free webinar might help. It explains who's cut out for it, what you could earn, and more helpful details.

Running Errands – Making Deliveries

Running errands and making deliveries are great for quick cash outside the home. It's also very flexible work! Do as much as you can when you can.

Most of these companies advertise earnings upwards of $18 hourly, but you may earn less. Those inflated totals fail to factor in gas, car wear and tear, or work availability.

If these opportunities are of interest, I'd recommend doing more than one to make it worth your while.

  • Shipt – Read Shipt Review – Be a shopper for Shipt, delivering groceries on-demand for people who request the service. Shipt claims it's possible to earn $22/hourly, but around $10 is more likely according to reports from many Shipt shoppers.
  • Instacart – Read Instacart Review – Get paid weekly to shop for, and deliver, groceries to people who need them. They have two positions — one that requires a car and one that does not.
  • DoorDash – Read DoorDash Review – Get paid to pick up food orders from various restaurants that use the DoorDash service and deliver it to the people who ordered.
  • Postmates – Read Postmates Review – Become a “Fleet delivery driver” for Postmates and get paid for deliveries of all kinds of items. You take home 100 percent of what you earn and payments are made weekly or cash out when you want instantly.

Online ESL Tutoring

How To Earn Money Online Paypal

ESL tutoring is technically non-phone, but there is still human interaction. A webcam is almost always required so you can teach English to non-English speakers.

This line of work may be ideal for you if you have past experience teaching/tutoring and a BA degree or some college.

ESL companies pay well — sometimes more than $20 an hour. Most companies are also very flexible with scheduling.

  • EF Education First – Read EF Education First Review – US and UK. Must be a native English speaker with a bachelor’s degree in any field. Virtual Assisting Jobs From Home

To avoid confusion, I want to make it clear first that virtual assistant work is not always non-phone, but it can be.

Virtual assistants do a little of everything depending on their skills/expertise. And there are many non-phone skills like writing, graphic design, editing, etc. to put to use.

  • Contemporary VA – Read Contemporary VA Review – May be open worldwide. Pay is $10 hourly. Get paid every other week via mailed check.
  • Belay Solutions – Read Belay Solutions Review – US only. Pay rate is not advertised.
  • Fancy Hands – Read Fancy Hands Review – US only. Pay is per task and I've seen where some people claim they make anywhere from $2 to $10 an hour just depending on what tasks they choose. Pay is every other week on Tuesdays via Dwolla.
  • Time, Etc. – Read Time, Etc. Review – US and UK only. Earn between $11 and $16 hourly. Get paid monthly with Paypal.
  • Worldwide 101 – Read Worldwide 101 Review – US and UK. Pays between $15 and $20 hourly. Get paid once a month by (I think) direct deposit.
  • Startups.co – Formerly known as “Zirtual”. They have virtual assistant openings for different timezones, US only. Pays $13 to $18 hourly. A minimum of an Associates degree is required.
  • You can see more companies hiring remote virtual assistants here.

Want to make good money with your own virtual assistant business?

While there is certainly nothing wrong with working as a virtual assistant for a company who needs workers, you'll earn the MOST money working for yourself — setting your own rates, deciding what services you'll offer, and getting some high-paying clients!

In fact, most virtual assistants who work for themselves earn upwards of $30 an hour. The most profitable route is usually to go into business for yourself, offering whatever services you specialize in, and setting your own rates.

More on that in this free downloadable checklist.

I also recommend the e-book 21 Days to a VA Biz. This is by our own Leisa Good, who writes many articles for Real Ways to Earn. She's got many years as a VA under her belt.

Bookkeeping/Accounting

If you are good with numbers, you could work at home as a virtual bookkeeper or accountant.

While this line of work is non-phone, you may occasionally have to converse with clients via phone. This will depend on the specific client and their communication preferences.

The following companies sometimes have remote bookkeeping jobs open:

  • Accounting Department – US. They hire virtual accounting specialists to work remotely. They do require 3+ years of bookkeeping experience.
  • Bateman & Co. – US, Texas residents preferred. They hire remote staff accountants. You must have a CPA to be considered plus three years of public accounting experience.
  • Belay Solutions – Read Belay Review – US only. While this company is best-known for hiring remote virtual assistants, they do sometimes have remote bookkeeping jobs open as well.
  • See more work at home accounting and bookkeeping companies here.

Another option is to work for yourself as a bookkeeper. Earning $80+ hourly with your own virtual bookkeeping business is possible.

Here's a helpful resource to show you how that works.

Search Engine Evaluation

Most companies that hire for search engine evaluation have many projects available. This means the exact work you do might vary.

Yet, search engine evaluation in the traditional sense involves analyzing search engine queries. Then, you determine the best results to match up to that query for ideal user experience.

You may be good at search evaluation if you're computer savvy, a good researcher, and up on all the latest trends.

Past experience isn't a rule with these jobs, but a lengthy test of your skills is typically given.

  • Appen – Read Appen Review – Open worldwide. Pay will vary depending on the job you're doing for Appen. Search engine evaluators may make around $13 – $15 hourly. They pay monthly via check or direct deposit.
  • iSoftStone – Read iSoftStone Review – May be open worldwide. Pay may be around $12 hourly. Get paid once a month with Paypal or direct deposit.
  • Lionbridge – Read Lionbridge Review – Open worldwide. Pay is around $13 hourly or more. Get paid once a month with direct deposit.
  • KarmaHub – Read KarmaHub Review – US only. Pay is around $11 hourly. Flexible schedule.
  • You can go here for more listings and search engine evaluation resources.

One thing to keep in mind with these jobs is that the companies above will have strict NDA's to sign. They don't want you sharing information about what you're doing or how much you earn.

Are you already working for one search evaluation company? Then there's a good chance you won't get hired by another similar company. They don't want you to work for their competitors.

Short Tasks

“Short task” sites are usually good for extra money only. Still, using them to fill in the gaps between other work from home jobs may be a good use of your time.

The tasks available vary from site to site. Most of the work you'll do is comparable to data entry because most involve typing.

  • Swagbucks – Read Swagbucks Review – Open to US, UK, and Canada. While this is just extra money or regular Amazon gift codes, there are tons of tasks you can do to earn daily — everything from paid surveys to watching videos. I've been a member since 2007 and can vouch for the company. They have paid me many times. It's definitely a fun site to use.
  • Amazon mTurk – Read Amazon mTurk Review – Open worldwide, but you can't get paid in cash unless you're in the US — you have to opt for money in your Amazon account. Pay varies depending on the tasks you choose. Payments are made via bank transfer or you can get money to spend on Amazon instead.
  • Appen – Read Appen Review – Open worldwide. I have this site listed above under “search engine evaluation,” but I'm listing them here, too, because they also hire people as “crowd workers” to do short tasks.
  • ClickWorker – Read Clickworker Review – Open worldwide. Pay may amount to around $9 hourly. Pay is once a month via Paypal, or you can get paid with bank transfer if you are outside the US.
